Bryan County High School running back and safety Nick Scott was recently named the top player in Region 2-AA by the region’s football coaches.
It must’ve been an easy pick.
Scott rushed for 1,595 yards and 23 touchdowns and racked up 99 tackles for the Redskins, who finished 8-3 and made a trip to the Class AA playoffs.
Senior linebacker Damion Dixon, senior receiver Raekwon Love, junior receiver Kajana Dixon, defensive back Troy Robertson and offensive lineman Brett Bacon earned first-team All-Region honors.
Damion Dixon had 131 tackles, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries, and also caught two scoring passes.
Love caught 22 passes for 590 yards and 11 scores, while Kajana Dixon caught 11 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns.
Robertson had 46 tackles and two interceptions — sharing the team lead with Damion Dixon — while Bacon anchored an offensive line that BCHS coach Mark Wilson called the strongest he’d had since arriving in Pembroke.
Second team All-Region picks were linebacker Dominique Mock, defensive back Marcus Johnson and offensive lineman Chace Collins.
Quarterback Jeremy McClendon, offensive lineman Josh Neagley and linebacker Markus Johnson earned honorable mention.
