Richmond Hill midfielder Sabria Marquez signed a letter of intent to join the Point University soccer program during a ceremony Thursday at RHHS.

Marquez, a three-year starter for the Lady Wildcats, has scored eight goals and notched seven assists in her career at RHHS through this season’s first three games. She also was named an all-region defender during her first two seasons, when she played fullback.

Marquez, who plans to major in early childhood education, said the way the Point players get along with each other and play together led her to choose the program.

“I think it was pretty easy,” she said. “I was stressed for a little bit, but I think that this was the right choice.”

There’s also a family connection for her to the program. Marquez’s sister, Jasmine, joined the Lady Skyhawks in 2015.

Point head coach Randy Douglas praised Sabria’s offensive ability and versatility, and said he expects her to challenge right away for a starting spot, likely at outside midfielder.
