The Richmond Hill cross country teams swept the Region 2-AAAAAA regionals at home Thursday in dominant fashion, with the boys' team taking eight out of the top 10 places and the girls' team taking five of the top 10 places.

Jalen Murray finished first overall for the boys, followed by Cooper Williams, Rakeem Littles and Tim Carlson in second through fourth. Dillon Brown, Luke Van Ginkle and Corey Adamski took seventh through ninth places.

"We weren't anticipating a difficult challenge, so we really focused on training throughout and making steady progress," Coach Levi Sybert said.

Kayla Gholar took first place overall for the girls' team, followed by Jennifer Urso (4), Gabrielle New (5), Mackenzie Winkworth (9) and Taylor Elkins (10).

Sybert said the girls' team turned in its top overall performance of the season and the boys' team had its second-best overall performance of the year.

Both teams will be at the Georgia High School Association cross country championships in Carrollton the weekend of Nov. 3-4.

"This is very exciting, as we've just started our peak process," Sybert said. "The guys are pushing hard to place somewhere in the top three, and with the emergence of the times put down yesterday with the girls, there is a legitimate chance they could place as high as fourth."
