Richmond Hill wrestlers captured 12 first place finishes at the AAAAAA Section A individual tournament Saturday.

A total of 14 Wildcats advance to the state sectionals at Alexander High this coming weekend, with the top eight finishers in each weight class qualifying for the state tournament in Macon Feb. 8-10.

“I was pleased with how we wrestled,” Coach Bob Parker said. “Coach Evans and our guys have been working for this all season. I hope we are peaking at the right time.”

Taking first place for Richmond Hill were Kaleb Anderson (106), Michael Allen (113), Brandon Langley (126), Rakeem Littles (132), Kamdyn Munro (138), Will Evans (145), Jakeem Littles (152), Akeem Littles (160), Charles Logan (170), Kevin Murry (182), Drew Renshaw (220) and Skyler Aguilar (285).

Jacob Sena also advances with a second-place finish at 120, as does Taylor Wilson after finishing third at 195.

Wilson won the state title at 182 pounds last year.

“Taylor’s third-place finish was a surprise, but he’ll learn from it,” Parker said.

Saturday’s tournament, hosted by the Wildcats, came just two weeks after they won the AAAAAA state team tournament.

“We talk in December and January about the season being a marathon, but when February gets here it is a sprint,” Parker said. “We ask everyone to pray for us because of our travels the next two weekends and that we can avoid all the sickness and injuries at this time of year.”
