The Richmond Hill girls’ soccer team lost 4-2 to Columbus Saturday, ending its season at 13-5-2.

“We ran out of gas physically after two tough, four-hour road games in a row,” Coach Steve Kollman said. “We had opportunities, we just couldn’t finish and didn’t have the legs to keep catching up.”

Columbus was the third No. 1 ranked team from their region the Wildcats faced, previously defeating Evans and Dunwoody on the road. Erin Gillooly and Sabria Marquez scored for Richmond Hill and Cera Schulke had four saves in goal.

This was Richmond Hill’s fourth trip to the Elite Eight in five years.

“We graduate five starters this year, same as last year,” Kollman said. “That means we’ll have 15 underclassmen that will return for another run at the state playoffs.”
