Region-tournament action gets underway today for the Richmond Hill girls’ basketball team.
The Lady Wildcats (5-19) play Effingham County (16-8) at 3:30 p.m. in the Region 3-AAAAA tourney at Camden County High School in Kingsland. In the boys’ region tourney, the Wildcats (16-9) open against Bradwell (6-18) at 8 p.m. Tuesday, also in Kingsland.
In the Region 2-AA tourneys at Long County High School in Ludowici, the Bryan County teams open play Tuesday. The Redskins (10-12) face Groves (2-20) at 5:30 p.m., while the Lady Redskins (14-9) play Bacon County (0-20) at 7 p.m.
All four teams wrapped up their regular seasons on Friday. The RHHS teams hosted Statesboro, with the Wildcats winning 49-42 and the Lady Wildcats losing 44-29. Meanwhile, the BCHS teams dropped their home games against Vidalia. The boys’ team lost 73-40, and the girls’ team fell 74-56.
