The Richmond Hill Middle School volleyball team has now won three consecutive Coastal Empire Region championships.

The Wildcats ended the season 13-1. Coach Chelsea Hurst said the team got off to a strong start by placing second in a pre-season tournament at South Effingham and never looked back.

“I am so proud of this team,” Hurst said. “They worked hard every day and earned every single point and victory this season.”

Team members are: eighth graders Zoraya Thornton (co-captain), Sara Beth Deal, Jessica Meyer, Kaylee Farmer, Bryce Dragon and Abby LeVines; seventh graders Rory Schuler (co-captain), Abby Asante, Maecy Meguiar, Millie Poulos, Mya Eroshevich and Ella Harper; sixth graders Ryan Kate Cowan and Gwyneth Harper; and managers Carson Reeves, Halle Schuler, Gisele Stauffer, Vanessa Smith and Grace Swanson.

“Our serving gave us a huge advantage this year,” Hurst said. “We focused a lot on competitive serving. I’m excited that we have a lot of talent returning to our team next year. I can’t wait for August 2018 so we can start working again!”
