RHMS swim wins region title

The championships keep coming for the Richmond Hill Middle School athletic program.

After the cross country team won a state title and the volleyball team captured a third straight region crown, the RHMS swim team has now won its region. In its first year of existence, no less.

“I am super impressed with their races and ability to compete,” said Coach Kristin Blanton, who also coaches the Richmond Hill High School swim team. “This group of swimmers is extremely talented and I am so glad they had the opportunity to represent Richmond Hill Middle School in the sport they love.”

The combined team has 30 members. First place finishes at the region meet included the 100 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 100 freestyle relay, 25 freestyle, 50 fly and 100 individual medley events.

Team members are: Camryn Baraniak, Caroline Bezner, Emily Bradshaw, Isabella Brown, Cameron Crouch, Edward Fernandez, Elijah Fitts, Gretchen Gray, Cole Hendrick, Kyle Kitchens-Hayes, Joshua Mattison, Justin Santos, Aiden Snyder, Cameron Taylor, Rowyn Theisen, Natalie Cuson, Meredith Dobson, Savannah Goode, Aiden Gray, Lilian O’Neil, Isabella Stashiak, Aiden Ussery, Joseph Bezner, Jordan Brock, Emily Dobson, Landon Duggar, Stephen Jones, Emily Padgett, Sebastian Rosales and Gabrielle Tweed.

“The future is fast and bright and will bring a lot of pride to the community,” Blanton said. “I cannot wait to see what is next to come for them in 2018.”
