The Richmond Hill Middle School girls’ soccer team recently capped off an undefeated season by winning the Coastal Empire Region championship.

“These young ladies truly embody the qualities and spirit that make a great athlete,” said Coach Jillian Yontz. “They work continuously to push themselves and their teammates.”

The Wildcats went 8-0 on the season and beat Southeast Bulloch Middle School 8-1 in the final. The team only gave up two goals all year, with the other one being against Effingham County Middle School.

“Every practice they showed up with a hunger to improve and a passion for this game,” Yontz said. “It is a rare but beautiful love of sport that they demonstrate every time they step on the field.”

The team also went undefeated last season en route to the championship.

Team members are Cassidy Beevers, Madison Haldeman, Daryn Ley, Karli Eubanks, Ileana Fernandez, Kayla Jackson, Kenna Foreman, Shannon Laxy, Lizzie Mazel, Ella Mahaffy, Ella Snider, Aaliyah Acosta, Kiara Bermudez, Lauren Groneck, Sarah Hungerford, Addie Hunter, Jaslyn Price, Rachel Rey and Hannah Zoufal. Taisa Tremble is the assistant coach.

The RHMS volleyball and swim teams also won region championships this year, and the boys’ cross country team won the middle school state championship.
