Both the Richmond Hill girls’ and boys’ tennis teams advanced to the second round of the AAAAAA state tournament Tuesday, defeating Jonesboro at Henderson Park.

For the girls’ team, Hannah Yontz won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0, as did Megan Bausch at No. 2 singles. Veronica Cox won at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-2. Grace Cantele and Bridget Cox won at No. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-0, and Caren Bausch and Bailey Loptata won at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0.

On the boys’ side, Alex Shermer won at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-0, and Mason Murphy won at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-0. There was no No. 3 singles match. Braden Chapman and Zach Sewell won at No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-1, while Miguel Rodriguez and Aaron Warner won at No. 2 doubles 6-3, 6-3.

The boys’ team, now 10-7, will face either Dacula or Sequoyah in the next round on April 25, while the girls’ team, now 14-3, face either Allatoona or Gainesville on the same date.
