The Richmond Hill boys' basketball team is assured of hosting in the first round of the state tournament after beating Bradwell Institute 61-60 in overtime in the semifinals of the Region 2-AAAAAA tournament Wednesday evening. 

The Wildcats play at 8 p.m. Friday against host Brunswick for the region championship. The top two seeds in the region get to host in the first round of the state tournament, which begins next weekend, while the third and fourth seeds in each region go on the road.

The Tigers had beaten Richmond Hill twice during the regular season, including a 62-60 overtime win on Jan. 12.

The Richmond Hill girls' team lost 54-38 to Bradwell earlier Wednesday. They play host Brunswick in the consolation game at 3:30 p.m. Friday to determine the third and fourth seeds in 2-AAAAAA.

In Region 2-AA, the Bryan County girls' team is assured a trip to the state tournament after beating Toombs County 61-34 Wednesday. The Redskins face Metter at 4 p.m. in the region semifinals at host Toombs County. The championship is 5 p.m. Saturday, with the consolation game at 2 p.m.

The Bryan County boys' team was knocked out of the 2-AA tournament Tuesday by Bacon County, 69-66.
