The Bryan County High School girls' basketball team beat Jeff Davis 41-35 in the Region 2-AA quarterfinals on Thursday to clinch a berth in the state Class AA tournament.
Earlier Thursday, the Bryan County High School boys' basketball team beat Benedictine 53-42 in the quarterfinals to earn the program's first trip to the state tournament in at least a decade. It's reportedly the first trip to state for the Redskins since the late 1990s.
The Richmond Hill High School girls, who punched their ticket to the state tournament Wednesday, fell 35-33 to Effingham County earlier Thursday in the second-round of the Region 3-AAAAA girls tournament.
The Wildcats also are in the state tournament after knocking off Ware County on Wednesday. Richmond Hill played No. 1 seed Jenkins late Thursday night. They fell 81-49.
