Lady Redskins fare well at North Cobb tourney

The Bryan County Lady Redskins (10-12),(5-3) won three of four games this past weekend at the North Cobb Tournament. The Redskins took down Cartersville (5B-AAA) 12-3 on Friday night and started the day out Saturday with a 13-1 loss to Forsyth Central.

Taylor Butler homered for Bryan County.

Bryan County finished the day out with a 7-2 win over (4-AAAAAA) North Cobb and beat McEachern (4-AAAAAA) 11-7

Bryan County will be back at home on Thursday for a doubleheader against St. Vincent’s Academy starting at 4:30 p.m.

Wildcat runners at RMI

Richmond Hill High School runners competed at the Ray Miller Invitational cross country race in Millen on Saturday.

In the boys’ race, Tanner Hicks was the Wildcats’ top finisher on the 3.1 mile course with a time of 17 minutes, 51 seconds, good enough for 27th overall.

Dax Jacobsen turned in a personal record time of 17:56 to finish second for Richmond Hill.

Corey Jones (18:33), Clint Maartin (190-3) Conner Shortridge (personal record 19:08) Gareth Price (personal record 19:09) and Austyn Harris (personal record 19:45) rounded out the top seven for the boys.

Amanda Elliot was the top RHHS finisher on the girls’ side, running the 3.2 miles course in 20:41 seconds.

Rachel Hammesfahr was second for RHHS with a time of 21:38, a personal best. Shanee McKee was third with a time of 22:28 and Emily Hollowell finished fourth with a personal record time of 22;32.

Natalie Davis (23:26), Katie Jo Barnes (23:52, personal record) and Chloe Giorgianni (24:07) were in the top seven for RHHS.

The Wildcats host a meet at the Richmond Hill fish hatchery at 4 :30 p.m. Thursday.

Lady Wildcats readying for Senior Night

Richmond Hill High School fell 6-4 to Calvary Day on Monday night in Savannah in a nonregion softball matchup.

The loss drops RHHS to 12-8 overall, but the Wildcats were 5-1 in Region 3-AAAAA heading into a Tuesday night makeup game with Jenkins.

Tuesday’s game was played after the News’ press deadline. No individual statistics from Monday’s game were available.

The Lady Wildcats play host to Calvary Day at 6 p.m. Thursday and then tangle with Windsor Forest at 6 p.m. Monday on Senior Night.
