Richmond Hill High School junior Kyle Pierce won a Region 2-AAAA wrestling title Saturday in Brunswick.
Pierce (20-1) beat Effingham County's Joel Gespard 6-1 in the 135-pound class to win the title. A transfer from Benedictine, Pierce is one of five Wildcats to advance to the state sectional tournament.
Also moving on are sophomore Ethan Wampler (28-2), who finished as a runner up in the 112 division, and freshman Zach Bringer (27-10), runner up in the 125 class.
Senior Shi-an Hsu and junior Brandon Mason both placed third at the tournament to earn trips to the state sectional tournament.
