Shelia Williams is the winner of the Bryan County News’ drawing for two tickets to Saturday’s Georgia-Florida football game.

Williams was chosen at random from among more than 1,400 people who entered the give-away at the News’ tent during the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival.

“The stars aligned,” laughed Williams, whose son Cameron Pipes, a 2017 Richmond Hill alum, is a freshman at Georgia. “I just put my ‘Georgia Mom’ sticker on my car the other day.”

Williams said she was not much of a football fan up until this year, but having her son at the school and the Bulldogs’ success this season turned her into one.

“My husband (Trevor Williams) says that now I’m way more into it than him,” she said of watching games. “I’m always yelling and asking him questions about the plays.”

Williams said there was no game to watch this past Saturday as Georgia had a bye, so she and Trevor went to the festival.

“The first stop I made was at the Bryan County News tent to register for the tickets,” she said. “We spent the whole day there, even staying for the fireworks. The weather was just beautiful.”

Williams is a nurse practitioner at SouthCoast Health Pediatrics and said she always makes sure to wear Georgia gear when she works on Saturdays. Naturally when she came to the News' offices to pick up the tickets she was wearing a black and red sweater.

Now, the big question is who gets to go with her to the game.

“We were just talking last week about going to see a game, since I’ve never been,” she said. “My husband joked that he needs to be on his best behavior this week.”

No. 4 Georgia is 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the SEC East while Florida is 3-3 and 3-2. Saturday’s game from EverBank Field in Jacksonville is at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
