The Richmond Hill High School Lady Wildcats (6-2, 2-0) beat Ware County 10-3 on Saturday to take the Silver Division championship at the Battle in the ‘Boro in Statesboro.
The Lady Wildcats went 4-1 in the tournament, hosted by Statesboro High.
In the championship game against Ware, Morgan Hunter was winning pitcher. Ciera Patrick had a single and two RBIs; Amber Riviera drove in a run; Liz Wallace singled in a run and Izzy Marsh also drove in a run. Natalie Corbin doubled while Cristy Davenport and Amber Nixon singled.
Earlier, the Lady Wildcats bested Truetlen County 5-3.
Sarah Mault was winning pitcher and also singled. Sophie Lorimer tripled for the Lady Wildcats who got a single from Wallace, a single and RBI from Taylor Rine, and an RBI each from Davenport and Corbin.
In the game prior to that, Richmond Hill knocked off Wheeler County 8-0. Aubri Reed doubled, Nixon was 2-for-2; Lorimer singled, Wallace doubled, Makayla Peny singled and Kaylee Vaughn singled. Peny picked up the win.
On the first day of the tournament, Richmond Hill knocked off Swainsboro 11-1. Riviera was 2-for-3 with a single and double; Nixon doubled and drove in a run; Lorimer had a single and two RBIs; Patrick was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs; Wallace had a triple and Hunter was 2-for-4. Hunter got the win for the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Wildcats fell 7-3 to Wayne Countyin their second game.
Lorimer singled and drove in a run; Taylor Rine singled in two runs and Cristy Davenport had a hit for the Lady Wildcats, who continue play today.
