Richmond Hill High School will hit the road for the state softball playoffs as a No. 4 seed after the Lady Wildcats lost twice in the Region 3-AAAAA semifinals Wednesday at Paulson Softball Complex in Savannah.
The Lady Wildcats (17-11, 9-2) lost their semifinal opener 1-0 to Effingham County in extra innings. Natalie Corbin, Sophia Lorimer and Makayla Peny had singles for Richmond Hill against Effingham pitcher Morgan Duff, who notched 13 strikeouts.

“Defensviely, we played the best game we’ve played all year,” RHHS coach Angie Hummeldorf said. “We just didn’t execute offensively.”

In its next game, Richmond Hill fell to Glynn Academy 4-2 in the battle for the No. 3 seed. Amber Rivera went 3-for-3 with a double to lead the Lady Wildcats, who also got singles from Corbin, Lorimer and Peny.

The Lady Wildcats will play on the road Oct. 10 against the No. 1 seed from Region 2-AAAA.
