One of the greatest achievements and honors that any athlete can gain is to have their number retired after they have finished their athletic career.
Tiffany Howard, 17, had her high school softball jersey retired Tuesday night during a ceremony held at halftime of the Bryan County-SCPS boy's game.
She wore the No. 1 on the diamond, and in honor of her many accomplishments on and off the field she will be the only one to ever wear that number again.
Howard, a two-time state Class A Player of the Year, owns almost every record in the Bryan County Lady Redskins' softball record book.
In the fall, she will continue her remarkable softball career for Auburn University as an outfielder.
"I'm really overwhelmed by all of this. It means so much to me to know that I will always be remembered at Bryan County," Howard said.
