Tiffany Howard is one of the most accomplished athletes in Bryan County High School history. For that matter, she’s one of the most accomplished high school athletes this area has seen.

Here’s a partial listing of records Howard has broken and honors she’s won. We say partial because there’s probably not enough room in Pembroke to include everything she’s accomplished.

Softball

Honors: Two time state Class A Player of the Year. Three time All-State player. Three time Region 3-A Player of the Year.

State records: Howard set the state Class A record for hits in a season in 2011 with 80. That broke her former record of 73, set in 2010.

Howard also holds the state stolen base record with 63 in a season, set in 2011. She also stole 47 bases in 2010, good enough for fourth all time in Class A.

School records: Howard holds career fastpitch records for single season (.656) and career (.546) batting average. In all, Howard holds 20 BCHS fastpitch career records. She also has single season and career records for no-hitters (5, 11) and perfect games (3,4), strikeouts (853 career), shutouts (20 career) and so on. Howard holds school records in the 800, 1,600, 3,200 and triple jump and is member of record setting 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.

Classroom: Honor student, never missed day of class.

Bryan County High School softball, track, basketball and cross country standout Tiffany Howard is the 2012 Bryan County News Player of the Year.

But actually, this is as much a career award as anything else, because Howard has been winning honors and driving opponents crazy in softball, track, cross country and basketball since she was a freshman. Four years later, she’s as accomplished an athlete as Bryan County has ever seen.

Her coaches, however, love her as much for her demeanor off the field as her talents and competitiveness on it.
