Sheldon Lewis had 12 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Richmond Hill boys’ basketball team to a 52-39 non-region win at Wayne County High School Tuesday night.

Montest Bumpers added eight points, while Eric Jones and Trey Deloach each chipped in seven. Seun Oguntunmibi grabbed five rebounds.

“I was pleased with the defensive effort last night,” Coach William Henderson said. “We still have a lot to work on and a lot of areas that we can improve in, but we are definitely pleased with coming away with the win.”

The Wildcats have now won four in a row after dropping their season opener at New Hampstead. Richmond Hill hosts South Effingham Friday.

“We have a good group of guys that are hardworking and push each other, and I think we will continue to see improvement as the guys are able to get accustomed to this level of play,” Henderson added.

The Richmond Hill girls’ team fell at Wayne County 46-36 and is now 2-3 on the year. No player information was available.

All-Stater Julianne Brown led the Bryan County girls’ team to a 68-23 win at Claxton Tuesday. She had 24 points, five rebounds, three assists and five steals. The Redskins, now 2-0, host Jeff Davis Friday.

The Bryan County boys’ team dropped to 0-2 on the year with a 51-40 loss to Claxton. No player information was available.
