Lyman Guy is the new head football coach at Toombs County High School.
In fact, the now-former top football coach at Richmond Hill High School is likely already in Lyons.
Guy took the job as the Bulldogs’ head coach and the school’s athletic director on Saturday and said in a text message Monday that Tuesday was his last day at RHHS. He told media outlets he wanted to be closer to home in a story that broke Saturday in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Guy’s home is near Toombs County, which is located in Lyons.
Richmond Hill Athletic Director Mickey Bayens said the school wishes Guy well.
“Richmond Hill High School wishes nothing but the best for Coach Guy and we thank him for his great five years of service in reinvigorating the Richmond Hill football program,” Bayens said in an email Monday night. “We will start our search immediately looking for the best fit and match to lead our program into one of the toughest football regions in the state.”
