Police are on the lookout for a car following an early morning shooting Saturday that left two people dead in downtown Savannah, including a woman who used to work at a popular eatery in Richmond Hill.

According to a release from the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police, Michael Biancosino, 30, of a Boyd Street address and Emily Pickels, 21, of a Henry Street address were found in a car that had crashed through the brick fencing around the Frazier Homes apartments on Martin Luther King Boulevard at the west end of Henry Street.

Authorities said Sunday they are now searching for a small, light-colored hatch-back vehicle that was seen near the area of the shooting late Friday or early Saturday.

Downtown precinct patrol officers reported hearing multiple shots at 3:47 a.m. Biancosino and Pickels were traveling west on Henry Street when the shots were fired.

Pickels was a 2009 graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy in Savannah and once worked at Plums Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop in Richmond Hill, where her parents live.

Melissa Auber, who worked with Pickels, described her as a vibrant person.

"Emily was the type of person that if she walked into a room where you were, she wouldn’t leave until she got a smile out of you," Auber said. "She was smart, she was bright, she was a clown and her favorite thing to do was get a smile out of someone."

Auber said Pickels left Plum’s in December to begin working with a tour company in Savannah. When Pickels moved into her Henry Street apartment about a month ago, Auber said she came to show her former co-workers her new place.

"She showed us pictures of her new apartment and the furniture she got for it—she was quite proud of it," Auber said.

When asked if Pickels would be missed, Auber said "that doesn’t quite describe it."

"She was very vibrant, she was the most alive person I knew," Auber said. "She was such an awesome and vibrant person that we’re still in shock."
