Eagles to beat ODU, fly back to FCS semifinals
The Bottom Line

Welcome to week 15 of the picks column. Yours truly went 1-2 last week. I am now 61-31 and thirty picks over .500, not too shabby.

Regular guest picker emeritus B.J. Clark was 2-1 and is now 24-12 on the year.

This week’s picks:

High School:

Ware County (12-1) vs. Northside Warner Robins (13-0): My brain says Northside Warner Robins. What does my brain know?

The Gators from Region 3-AAAAA will surprise everybody and win 21-14.

Colquitt County (10-3) at Norcross (13-0): The Packers play in arguably the world’s toughest region, 1-AAAAAA. The level of competition has served them well in the state playoffs. Colquitt finds a way to win, 17-12.

College:

Georgia Southern (9-3) at Old Dominion (11-1): The Eagles are one game away from returning to the semifinals of the NCAA FCS playoffs for the third straight year, but face a tough task in Norfolk against the pass-happy, high-scoring Monarchs. Last year the same two teams met in the postseason and GSU escaped with a 55-48 win at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro.

My brain says Eagles won’t be able to keep up with Old Dominion. Again, what does it know? Georgia Southern finds a way. Eagles advance, 49-40.

Worth noting: If you haven’t had a chance to check out Georgia Southern this year, now’s your chance. The game will be televised on ESPN at noon Saturday. It’s triple option versus the spread.

This and that: I don’t like Georgia, but have to hand it to the Bulldogs for the way they played against Alabama. The SEC championship might actually be a better game than the upcoming BCS championship game pitting Notre Dame against the Tide.
What’s more, let’s go ahead and get the thing over with. Do we really need 30-plus days of hype?
