Don't look now, but Wildcats are in playoffs
In one projection, anyway

The high school football season is only a month old, but some folks have already made their first-round playoff projections.

Call it looking way down the road.

The Georgia High School Football Daily has done just that. They released projections Friday on which teams will make the postseason and who they’ll play.

And this shouldn’t come as a surprise, butRichmond HillHigh Schoolis among those expected to make the cut in AAAAA.

Yep. The Wildcats, in their first season in the higher classification, are headed to the playoffs – or so says Georgia High School Football Daily.

It remains to be seen whether the GHSFD crystal ball is accurate, but one thing is clear: The Wildcats, vastly improved under third-year coach Lyman Guy, are likely to benefit greatly from moving into Region 3-AAAAA, historically the weakest in AAAAA.

What withCamdenCountyhaving moved up to AAAAAA and Bradwell Institute andEffinghamCountystruggling, the door seems to be open for the Wildcats to get into the postseason for the first time since 1996.

All they have to do is finish fourth or better. Which seems more than possible this year. It seems probable.

Below is the projected playoff field for Class AAAAA. Region 3-AAAAA schools in bold.
