The 2012 Ronnie Huggins Invitational Baseball Tournament was held last weekend in Garden City. Ten teams participated in the 12U division. Posting an outstanding 5-0 record over 2 days, the Coastal Reds captured the 12U championship.
The Reds came out of the gate blazing in the final game scoring seven runs in the first two innings. With the offense doing its part, the defense also stepped up shutting out the Savannah Bulls for several innings. The game tightened up in the latter innings with the Bulls mounting a surge, pulling the game to a three run margin. Reds closing pitcher Zach Fussell put the nail in the coffin with a third out strikeout in the sixth to seal the deal.
