Bryan netters pick up first win

Bryan County High School's tennis squad picked up their first win and first region win of the early season at the same time Tuesday, sweeping Claxton.
In girls' matches, Kayla Koskela won 6-1, 6-1; Taylor Stanfield won 6-4, 7-5; Alex Rud won 8-0; Chelsea Gallo and Jamie Lape won 7-5, 6-0; Lauren Martin and McKenzie Covington won 6-4, 6-5.
In boys' matches, Eric Morgan won 2-6, 6-3, 6-3; Jeremy Ennis won 6-1, 6-1; Eric Sikes won 8-5; Philip Sapp and Bradley Hoover won 6-1, 3-6, 7-6; Jerry Shuman and Terry Hardy won 6-4, 6-3.
"This was a big region win for us," Bryan County coach Karen Lynn said. "Everyone played hard and gave their best effort. I was very pleased with our play on Tuesday."
The Redskins opened the season March 3 and fell to Class A Savannah Christian.
"I thought everyone played hard, both girls and boys. I was especially pleased with the play of Jeremy Ennis and Eric Sikes," Lynn said.
