Bryan County guard Julianne Brown has been named to the Class AA All-State team by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association for the second consecutive year.

Brown, a junior, averaged 17.7 points and six rebounds per game and was the Region 2-AA player of the year. A starter since her freshman year, she also surpassed 1,000 career points this past season.

“I am very proud of her and blessed to have a player that has a great work ethic like Julianne,” Redskins Coach Mario Mincey said. “One of her best qualities is that she’s a team player and understands the importance of her teammates and coaches.”

Brown said earning All-State honors last year as a sophomore was a little more exciting, but she’s still thrilled by the accolades.

“It means all the hard work I put in during the off season paid off,” she said. “Besides playing travel ball, I’m in the gym probably five days a week working out.”

Brown said she hopes Bryan County can win its region and make a deep state tournament run next season.

She’ll also take the SAT later this month and then start looking at options to play beyond high school.

“I definitely want to play at the next level,” she said.
