Bryan County shooting guard Julianne Brown was honored Friday for scoring her 1,000th career point earlier this season in a game against Vidalia.

Brown, a junior, had 1,043 career points as of Monday, according to Lady Redskins coach Mario Mincey. She received a plaque recognizing her accomplishment during a ceremony at halftime of the BCHS boys’ basketball game.

A starter since her freshman season at BCHS, Brown said she was unaware of her milestone until her mother told her about it after the game.
“I was shocked. It was an honor,” she said. “Thanks to my teammates; without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today.”
Both Brown and Mincey said an area of her game that could use improvement is defense.

“The good thing is she is just a junior, and she has the chance to get better and better,” Mincey said.
