Richmond Hill senior Chloe Allen signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to play volleyball at Augusta University next fall.

“I’m really excited and I’m looking forward to continuing my playing career,” she said. “I was just up there last weekend getting to know the area and I love it.”

Augusta is a DII school and participates in the Peach Belt Conference. The Jaguars are currently 15-13 overall and 6-8 in the conference. They finish up the regular season with matches this weekend in South Carolina and Florida.

Allen said she has been playing volleyball for eight years, both for school and through the Club Savannah travel volleyball program. She was recruited as a middle blocker.

“That’s my primary position, but the coach said she likes versatile players so I could end up playing other positions,” she said.

Wildcats Coach Taisa Tremble said Allen’s signing is “the culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication,” and said Allen is a great leader.

“The past four years she has been an incredible example of passion on the court and in the classroom,” Trimble said. “I hope our program can continue to turn out people like Chloe.”

Allen, who wants to major in pre-med, said the fact Augusta also has a medical school played a big part in her decision. She said she would like to be a thoracic or trauma surgeon.
