Bryan County High School alumna Tiffany Howard scored a run in Auburn’s 6-5 win over Tennessee in the Southeastern Conference softball championship game Saturday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Howard, a second-team All-SEC selection this season, struggled in the tourney, going 0 for 10 at the plate with one walk in three games. However, Carlee Wallace doubled in tourney MVP Emily Carosone in the bottom of the ninth for the come-from-behind win.

It’s the first SEC tourney title for the program, according to AuburnTigers.com.

Auburn (49-9 overall) received one of four No. 1 seeds when the national-tourney bracket was released Sunday. The Lady Tigers will host an NCAA regional starting Friday. The Tigers plays Tennessee Tech, while Chattanooga plays South Alabama.

The regional title game is Sunday. The winner moves on to the super regional, with a trip to the College Softball World Series on the line.
The other three No. 1 seeds are Florida, Michigan and Oregon.
