Gary Walker’s 12U Hendrix Park Heat softball team placed third in the Ultimate Fastpitch Tournament held at Hendrix Park on June 20 – June 21. There were five other teams in this division: Team Fury, Effingham All-stars, Liberty County All-stars, Shox and the Beaufort Bombers. It was a double elimination tournament. The first game was Shox playing Liberty County All-stars. The final score was Shox 9 and Liberty 0. The second game was the Hendrix Park Heat playing Team Fury. The final on this one was Hendrix Park 17 and Team Fury 1. The third game was Beaufort Bombers versus Shox. The final was Bombers 1 and the Shox 9. The fourth game was Hendrix Park Heat playing Effingham All-stars. Hendrix Park had 12 and Effingham had 2. By the end of Saturday’s competition, Hendrix Park Heat was in third place. The Beaufort Bombers ended second and the Shox took first place. Hendrix Park Heat is Alexis Adkins, Heaven Ahmay, Taylor Butler, Aaliyah Carter, Josey Denmark, Kennedy Godwin, Seniorita Ivey, Kaitlyn Kennedy, Kaitlyn Meekins, Macy Newman, MaKayla Peny, Kaylee Perks, Victoria Pruitt, Anna Tadlock and Alana Walker.
