Girls' basketball: Richmond Hill lose to Bradwell, 50-27
basketball

The Richmond Hill High School Lady Wildcats’ basketball team went on a three game win streak and were looking to extend that streak to four games against the Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers.

However that streak unfortunately came to an end on Tuesday.

Bradwell started the game by winning the opening tip, and quickly went down the court to take a 2-0 lead from a Ja’Nya Bush score. That was followed by a shot made by Jamia Ousley, and then two more baskets made by the Lady Tigers to take an 8-0 lead to open the game before the Lady Wildcats made their first shot of the evening. The Lady Tigers went on a 6-2 run to end the first period with a 14-5 lead.

The second period started with both teams trading two-point scores, before Bradwell scored a three-pointer. While the Lady ‘Cats did score more than they did in the first period, the Lady Tigers still outscored them 14-7 and took a 28-12 lead into the halftime break.

Bradwell opened the period with the ball, and they would score the first points of the third two-pointer, but Richmond Hill answered with a three-pointer to close the gap. The Lady ‘Cats came as close as within 12 points of the lead by scoring 10 in the period, but Bradwell also scored 10 and took a 38-22 lead into the final period of play.

Although the Lady ‘Cats got better with each period, they were unable to keep that momentum in the final period of play. Bradwell scored back to back baskets before the Lady ‘Cats scored, and once they did, the Lady Tigers scored back to back again. Richmond Hill added a three-pointer, but that would be their final score of the game as the Lady Tigers outscored them 12-5, to end the game with a 50-27 win to remain undefeated.
