The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Board of Natural Resources is seeking nominees for appointment to the Coastal Marshlands Protection Committee and the Shore Protection Committee.
A detailed resume for any nominee must be submitted no later than close of business, Monday, Oct. 18, to the Office of the Commissioner of Natural Resources, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr., SE, Suite 1252 East, Atlanta, GA 30334-9000.
This appointment will fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Richard Eckburg for November 2010 through December 2011. The individual appointed to fill this vacancy will be eligible for reappointment to an additional four-year term.
The board is seeking nominees who, by reason of their occupational or other experience, scientific expertise, legal expertise or training, are knowledgeable regarding the conservation, development uses and management of Georgia’s coastal environment. Nominees must have a demonstrated ability to work collectively with others and be willing and able to participate fully in committee business and related activities.
The Coastal Marshlands Protection Committee and Shore Protection Committee typically meet six times a year at a location somewhere in coastal Georgia. Meeting duration varies from two to eight hours depending on the agenda. Committee members are eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses.
The board intends to select the appointee at the Oct. 27 board meeting.
