The RHHS Lady Wildcat cross country team took second place in a meet at J.F. Gregory Park on Oct. 17. In the boys division, the RHHS Wildcats placed fourth.

The girls were edged out by runners from Savannah Country Day by a narrow two point margin. Lindsey Vasher led the pack for the Cats, coming in fourth overall for the girls. Savannah Country Day’s Ali Ramee placed first overall. As has been the case at every single meet, a cluster of RHHS girls crossed the finished line near the front of the race. Closely behind Vasher were, in order, Kaitlyn Uhlig, Katie Berry, Gini Russell, Anna Bausum and Lauren Hall.

RHHS runner David Cassidy proved he was not a one-hit wonder by following up last week’s second overall finish with a third place finish this time out. He was edged out only by Savannah Arts Academy’s George Drummond, who again took the top spot, and Savannah Country Day’s Zack Samuels. Rounding out the top finishers for the Wildcats were, in order, Justin Caulkins, Jimmy Gardner, Will Rhyne, Brett Tuten and James Berry.

Next up is a meet at Savannah Country Day, today at 4 p.m. The region championship follows, to take place Oct. 27 in Effingham County.
