Story by Allen Cox

Mon, Feb 9: The Wildcats made the hour and a half ride down Highway 84 west to Jesup and took on the always-tough Wayne County Yellow Jackets. RHHS starter, Noah Stone, pounded his chest, pitching 6 strong innings, striking out 11, and only walking 2. The Jackets sent 2 different pitchers to the mound. Ostin Kinard and Maddux Wilkerson matched Stone, striking out 11, not giving up a walk, and only allowing a run in the 4th and 7th inning. Shane Tucker and that freshman, Gage Witham, each drove in a run for Richmond Hill. Leggett and Campbell provided the lumber for the home team in the bottom of the 7th inning, driving in 3 runs, and taking their season opener, 3-2. If you were there, you witnessed a very well played ballgame, with good high school pitching, and outstanding defense. Zero errors were committed, which is rare, for especially this time of the year. WHCH is now 1-0, and RHHS is 0-2.

Richmond Hill is back in action at this weekend. Two Atlanta GHSA Powerhouses, Grayson HS and Etowah HS, come to town, Friday at 7:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. Saturday.
