For a group of 8-and-under girls from the Richmond Hill area, this summer has been about collecting hardware - in the form of tournament trophies.
The tournament season started in early June with the girls going undefeated and taking the championship in Effingham County. The Power scored a total of 65 runs in four games while giving up a total of 15 runs.
Next it was the WFC Georgia State Championship in Dublin Georgia on June 28. The Coastal Power girls came to play and play they did by playing a total of six games on Saturday. Ultimately, the Power lost to Team Elite out of Atlanta in the Championship game.
With the state runner-up finish, the Power qualified for the WFC World Series in Savannah. The girls came to play once again by fighting back from the losers bracket to gain a spot in the championship game. It was a tremendous game played by both teams and, in the end, Coastal Power lost a heart breaker to the Gator Girlz by the score of 13 – 12, giving Coastal Power the 2nd place finish in the 2008 WFC World Series.
