Canoe excursion on Altamaha

Fort King George will have a canoe excursion at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21.
The cost is $25 per person and participants will meet at the Fort King George Historic Site Museum.
The group will head down Cathead Creek to the Altamaha River. Participants will go through 19th century rice fields teeming with wildlife and history, and the trip will end at Skippers Seafood dock.  
Guided interpretation will be provided. Canoes, paddles and life jackets are furnished. Guests are encouraged to bring plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen.  Bugs are rarely a factor on these trips.

Both teams got off to sizzling starts: each scored a touchdown on only two plays on their first possession which, combined, took only 86 seconds off the clock. However, Bryan County’s early sizzle fizzled while Aquinas kept on trucking.
