After shaky season start, Lady Wildcats rally to three-game win streak
basketball

The Richmond Hill High School Lady Wildcats are on a three-game win streak after starting to turn things around in the first half of their season.

The Lady ‘Cats were just over the .500 mark on the year after suffering the third loss in seven games at the hands of Glynn Academy, losing the game at home by a 43-31 score. That loss tied the series on the year, with Richmond Hill winning the first game on the road by a 36-33 score to open the season.

But in their last three games, the Lady ‘Cats have started to turn things around, and have gone on a three-game winning streak. Their first win of the streak, was avenging an earlier loss to the Statesboro High School Lady Blue Devils with a 38-35 win. The Lady Blue Devils won the first meeting at their place 41-36, but the Lady ‘Cats were more prepared for the second game and were able to come away with the victory.

In their second match, the Lady ‘Cats traveled to Hilton Head, where they took on the Hilton Head Island High School Lady Seahawks for the second time of the season, and were able to come away with another win, making a clean sweep on the season. In both games, the Lady ‘Cats outscored the Lady Seahawks by a 33-point margin. The first game, Richmond Hill won 53-20 and they won 50-17 in the second meeting between the two teams.

And to round it off, the Lady ‘Cats pulled off another clean sweep of a team, with this time being against the Ware County High School Lady Gators of Waycross. The Lady ‘Cats traveled to Waycross and picked up the second win over the Lady Gators by a 37-35 score. In their first meeting, which was Richmond Hill’s first home game of the 2025-2026 season, the Lady ‘Cats picked up a convincing 52-35 win.

“The turnaround required a mindset shift and happened as we began playing together better as a team and reducing turnovers,” senior leader Cullen McCormick said. “Being a young team, everyone has had to step up. We are continually making adjustments to figure out what works.”

With the Lady ‘Cats starting to come into their own as a team after having to replace three key starters from last season, they will have another big test at home during the Christmas Break, as they will play host to the Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers out of Hinesville. The Lady Tigers currently sit at a perfect 12-0 on the season and hope to continue the win streak of their own while on the road.

The game will be held at Richmond Hill High School on Tuesday, December 30. Tip off for that game will be at 2:30pm.
