In the coming weeks you’ll be reading more about the Bryan County Children’s Fund, which is aimed at making sure this community’s least fortunate kids have a merry Christmas. Our goal in keeping the BCCF in the news is simple, really.

We want you to know that it’s your donations that make it work. We also want you to know there’s a need, even in a community as blessed as Bryan County.

Already, some 100 families have been signed up through referrals to Bryan County, and more are expected before the application deadline is Nov. 30. Already, some are stepping up to meet the need.

For instance, the annual John Stevens Memorial Golf tournament - better known as the Santa Scramble - has raised several thousand dollars for the BCCF.

But more help is needed and time is of the essence. The deadline for donations, all of which go toward helping kids, is Dec. 14.

Checks can be mailed to the Bryan County Children’s Fund, P.O. Box 1857, Richmond Hill, GA, 31324 or dropped off at the Bryan County News offices in Pembroke and Richmond Hill. For directions to either office, call 756-2668 or 653-4570.

Contributions of toys or clothes can be dropped off at the Richmond Hill Police Department or call Family Connections Coordinator Tara Jennings at 756-3602 to set up a time for pickup.

Please consider giving. Your generosity will help bring a smile to a child’s face this Christmas.
