I was thinking this morning about how unpredictable this past year has been with a world full of chaos. The news of the Corona virus among us was probably the biggest surprise. It was like we woke up one morning and our lives changed and continued to change because of all of the uncertainties.
Just recently much of the southeast experienced a gas shortage because of a computer hack. Even in our area, which wasn’t directly affected by this hack, there was still the panic hoarding of gas which ended up causing us some problems.
As we look into the future there is so much uncertainty. We could receive bad news about a major physical problem. We could experience a relational breakup that we didn’t see coming. We could be affected by another hack or a water shortage. We could see an increase in forest fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, hail storms, flooding or maybe we could experience a major earthquake.
Who knows where the Israeli conflict could end up, or maybe war with some of our other enemies. I am not trying to be pessimistic but just getting us to realize that we can’t always control or predict the future.
There is a consistency in the middle of any chaos and that is God, who never changes. God Himself says in Malachi 3:6, “For I the Lord do not change” and the scriptures tell us in Hebrews 9:15 that Jesus Christ, who was God in human flesh and our Savior, “is the same yesterday, today and forever”. Our God will always be faithful and dependable and we can trust in Him completely every day. His promises will always be true and we can be assured that He will never leave us or forsake us and has prepared a place for us to spend eternity with Him. The peace that He gives us can be with us no matter what is going on in the world around us.
