We have the power to change
pastor corner

There are several things in this life that we can never change, including our true birth date, the fact that we will all have to face death, our race and past choices, just to name a few.

There are several things we can change. We don’t have to be the same person today that we were yesterday. If you are not a follower of Jesus Christ, today you can change. The Lord has never turned away anyone from coming to him if they come with a sincere motive.

After a person turns to Jesus, then changes take place on a regular basis – for us to be more like Jesus Christ. Youwill want to change because you will want to please your heavenly Father.

The Apostle Paul addressed this in 1 Thessalonians 4 where he said, “We urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.” Your prayer becomes “Lord, I am not quite who I want to be but thank you that I am not the person I used to be.”

We need to remember that the power to change comes from a deeper source than ourselves – it comes from God. Peter reminds us of this power in 2 Peter 1:3, where we are told, “His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness ...”

So it all comes down to the question, “Do you want to change in those areas where you can have the power and ability to do so through the help of God?”
