In 1943, Abraham Maslow wrote a paper titled "A Theory of Human Motivation." In it, Maslow described a pyramid-shaped figure, representing the most basic needs of humans and what needs take precedence over others. As he stated, humans’ most basic need is for physical survival, and "this will be the first thing that motivates our behavior.
