Editor,

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to extend congratulations to Atlantic Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge David L. Cavender on his recent retirement and thank him for his exemplary service to the people of Bryan, Evans, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Tattnall counties.

Judge Cavender’s distinguished tenure of 33 years was the longest ever for an active superior-court judge in the Atlantic Circuit. Before he was first elected to the bench in 1982, he practiced law in Hinesville for seven years. He also served his country in the Army from 1969 to 1972, working at the Pentagon.

All Georgia lawyers and judges are grateful for Judge Cavender’s dedicated service and are inspired by his many contributions toward promoting the cause of justice and upholding the integrity of the legal profession in our state. We wish him well in the years of retirement ahead.

Sincerely,
Robert J. “Bob” Kauffman
President, State Bar of Georgia
