Sometimes life is like weather
pastor corner

I know it must be hard to be a weatherman because the weather is ever-changing and we have no control over it.

Take these last couple of weeks, where we have had temperature ranges from the low 30s to around 80 degrees. We have had calm days and windy ones. We have had sunny days and rainy days.

Sometimes it is difficult to make plans because the weather can change so quickly. It is so undependable. Jesus even says in John 3:8, “The wind blows where it pleases.”

Our life is like the weather - we can’t predict what tomorrow may bring. We can’t predict what our health is going to be in five years, let alone tomorrow. We can’t be guaranteed what others in our relationships will do whether or not we will even be in those relationships in the future. We are not guaranteed that our financial situations will be the same tomorrow - whether or not we will keep our present job.

With all of these uncertainties in our world, there is that which is constant, that which is predictable. This one thing that we can depend on is God’s love for us.

Romans 8:38-39 reminds us of this truth where it says, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in our creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”When everyone else fails us, he won’t.

This new year I encourage Christ followers to continue to trust in a faithful God, but also to challenge non-believers to put God to the test. He will never fail you.
