Seeking and finding
pastor corner

The traditional Christmas story didn’t end at the manger. In Matthew 2, we find that sometime later Wisemen from the East visited Jesus in a house in Bethlehem and presented Him with gifts and worshipped Him. It is estimated that it took these Wisemen several months in their journey to find Him, but they kept on seeking until they found Him.

We find in Luke 15 where Jesus asked a simple question to those listening concerning the possibility of a shepherd losing one sheep out of their flock. He asked them if this happened to them wouldn’t they seek after it until they found it? In this same chapter Jesus told a parable of a man’s son that lost everything he owned through bad decisions and had to find his way back to his father. We get the idea that the father had been seeking after this lost son and would have been willing to do anything to find him. The truth in this chapter reminds us of Jesus who came to seek and to save those which were lost.

We are told to be seekers towards God in Matthew 7 where Jesus says for us to keep on asking, keep on seeking, and to keep on knocking, and the good news is that we will receive, we will find and the door will be opened to us.
