The second coming may be soon
pastor corner

One of the central doctrines of the Christian faith is “the second coming of Jesus”.

The Bible records the time when Jesus came to earth the first time as well as the promise that He will come back to earth to reign as King.

There are many things in our world that are happening that draw us closer to that event. I am not going to go into the details and deal with what happens in a particular order, but I do know that the Bible talks about a day when people cannot buy or sell anything unless they have on their bodies what is called “the mark of the beast” (See Revelation 14:9-11). This probably means that we will be in a somewhat cashless society.

In past history, this was not possible but we are fast approaching a time where is it possible and most likely probable. What brought me to this subject today is that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and richest man in the world, just purchased 1.5 billion dollars in Bitcoin, a crypto currency. If bitcoins are spent, there is no trading of anything tangible and if we went totally to the use of crypto currency, we would be operating in a cashless society.

You may think I have just went off the deep end, but you have to admit that technologically things are moving at record pace. My key point is that whether or not crypto currency has anything to do with the end times, the fact remains that there is the end times and there is a time when Jesus will return. What matters above everything else is the fact that when Jesus returns we need to be in a right relationship with God. So, the big question today is, are you prepared when He comes?

July 17th has a special place in my heart. It is my grandson Kade’s birthday. I reminded my daughter on Monday that “this time several years ago, you were about ready to pop.” I felt sorry for Kala. It was really hot and she still coached her team through summer camps and basketball summer leagues. To make up for the misery of the heat, Kade showed up within just a few hours of labor and not much of hassle.
