A reminder of promises
pastor corner

The other day I looked up into the sky as I was driving to town and saw a beautiful rainbow. Every time I see one I think of the promise that God made to humanity that He would never again destroy the world with a flood.

Of course He said this right after the world was destroyed by a flood because of the wickedness of mankind. This time when I saw the rainbow I thought about all of God’s promises. It reminded me of the verse in 2 Peter where it says, “ he (God) has granted to us his precious and very great promises...”. The scripture is full of promises that our God has made to us. Let me give you a few examples: God has promised that those who will trust in the salvation offered through His Son Jesus will receive forgiveness and eternal life.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.

Also God has promised us that He will comfort us in times of trouble.

He tells us in 2 Corinthians 1:4 that he “comforts us in all our troubles”.

He promises us that he will be faithful. 2 Timothy 2:13 reminds us that he will always remain faithful.

He has promised to never leave us as in Hebrews 13:5 where it simply says,” Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you”.

These are just a few examples of the many promises, so I encourage you to go to the Bible and start reading it and you will find out what I am talking about. Also the next time you see a rainbow think of all of the promises God has given to those who will commit their lives to Him.
