Several years ago, I was with one of my daughters at a small fishing pond that was owned by a local farmer. My daughter must have been about 4 years old and was at the back of the car where I was getting my fishing equipment out of the trunk. All of the sudden, I looked up and saw a huge German Shepherd rushing towards her, and I didn’t have time to react.
If this dog meant to harm her there was no way to stop the immediate impact. Well, thankfully this dog was friendly and only wanted to lick her in the face.
I quickly went from a melting heart to one of thanksgiving and praise.
The words of David found in Psalm 136 came to my mind which says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good”. There have been many times before this and after this where I have spoken such words. I believe we could find a reason to praise the Lord each and every day for some evidence of His goodness.
