Praying for our leaders
pastor corner

Politics and politicians are a large part of the conversation of many Americans during this time of year, mainly because of key elections coming up this November. We have praises as well as complaints coming out of people’s mouths concerning those in authority over us.

There are things being said that are true but also exaggerations all the way to things that just aren’t true.

There is one instruction from God’s Word that many who claim to be people of faith in Jesus don’t always practice. We are to spend time praying for those in authority over us. 1 Timothy 2:2 tells us to pray for “kings and all those in authority”.

One reason given is so that we don’t live in chaos, and this can be avoided if they lead well. Also, we are to pray that if they are not a follower of Jesus Christ then that they will be.

I believe if we spend more time on our knees in prayer for those in authority over us, then they can experience transformed lives, they are more likely to do a better job, and our world can be a better place to live.
