Within the Lord’s Prayer are these words, “your kingdom come”. This is a request to our heavenly Father that He establish His kingdom on the earth.

 The Jewish nation dreamed and yearned for a time when God would fulfill this promise made to them long ago. In the Bible we are taught that Jesus will one day return to earth and reign as king and be that fulfillment. Humanity, being so flawed, could never have a leader that could establish a perfect government. 

The only way that we can live in a perfect society that is always right is by having a perfect leader who is always right. There is only one who has ever lived on this earth that can live up to this expectation and that is Jesus Christ.

So, this makes sense that we daily pray for Jesus to return and the eventual result will be what humanity is yearning for, but to be part of this new kingdom requires a decision to follow the king.
